Rainbow Peasant Dress with a Bubble Ruffle

Last week I blogged about the rainbow dress that I made for my older daughter. I had about half a yard of fabric left over, and not wanting to leave Miss Imp out of the rainbow fun, I made a coordinating dress for her to wear on St. Patrick’s Day.

My options were limited because I had a small piece of fabric to work with.  So I settled on making a simple peasant dress with a ruffle hem.  Then out of nowhere, the phrase “floating on cloud nine” popped into my head and I was inspired to make the ruffle look like a fluffy cloud.  After brainstorming a bit, I decided that constructing the ruffle like a bubble skirt would be the best way to accomplish this.

Miss Imp is thrilled to have a rainbow dress like her big sister.  I guess you can say that she is floating on cloud nine!
